Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Dear Sisters & Brothers,

October 12 is celebrated in Washington, DC and many other cities, states / provinces, and countries around the World as Indigenous Peoples’ Day. In the past, many of us have observed October 12 with protests against honoring Christopher Columbus who initiated the genocide of the Indigenous People of the Western Hemisphere and People of African Descent in Africa and throughout the African Diaspora.

In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day and to celebrate the unbreakable bonds of friendship and solidarity between Indigenous Peoples of the Western Hemisphere, Palestinian People, African People (including all People of African Descent), and Oppressed Peoples world-wide, the Piscataway Indian Nation and Tayac Territory, the American Indian Movement (Mid-Atlantic Region), the American Indian Support Committee, the National Council of Arab Americans, the Hiroshima Nagasaki Peace Committee of the National Capital Area, the All African People’s Revolutionary Party ^(GC), and Pan African Roots invite the entire community to join us in an Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration on Monday, October 12, 2020 from 12 (noon) to 3 pm at the lower end of Malcom X Park (also known as Meridian Hill Park).

Parking for the event can be found along 15^th St, 16^th St, and Florida Ave, NW. Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic we are asking all participants to practice 6’ self-distancing, wear a mask and bring hand sanitizer.

The Celebration will feature solidarity messages from elected officials, church groups, labor unions, community, national and international organizations, cultural presentations by Native American, other Oppressed Peoples, and others in solidarity. Program will be announced

The Arts Development Center will provide sound, staging and live streaming. The DC Humanities Truck will provide access to its web-based exhibit projects and digital repository.

Peltier is “Home,” but He is Still Not “Free!”

Leonard Peltier celebrated his 81^st birthday with his family and supporters on Friday, September 12, 2025, in his “home” on the Turtle Mountain Band of the Chippewa Nation in Bell Court, North Dakota. As he made clear this is an independent Nation, an Indigenous Nation, not a “reservation;” and he is Indigenous, not Indian. He also made clear that his supporters paid for his modest “home,” not the

U.S. government, nor the Chippewa Nation, which cannot afford to give him one, while others go homeless.

The next day, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, Leonard participated in an exclusive, history- making, one-hour interview with Amy Goodman and Democracy Now! This interview is titled: I'm Not Going to Give Up": Leonard Peltier on Indigenous Rights, His Half Century in Prison & More

As Peltier made clear, Biden “took” Peltier out of a prison cell in Coleman, Florida, at the last “constitutional” minute, and “resentenced” him to a different type of prison cell: “home confinement, for life and for free” in Bell Court, North Dakota. His liberty is still restricted. His human rights are still abridged. He must call “his handler” in Washington D.C. to request permission to do the simplest, most human of things. He must request permission to go to his doctor to reclaim the 80% of his vision that was stolen. He must also request permission to go to New York to exhibit his paintings, the product of 49 years and two months of his unjust imprisonment.

Peltier is a political prisoner: an Indigenous activist, a Movement artist. He spent 49 years and two months of his life in a U.S. prison cell; perhaps the longest time spent in history. Mandela, one of Peltier’s supporters, only spent 27 years in prison, 18 of them on Robben Island. Azanian (South African) People are still not free. Why is Elon Musk the richest person in the world, in the new apartheid, in the new Jim Crow?

I was very happy to see and hear Peltier at “home,” without bars, a prison uniform, or chains. I was even happier to hear him say that he will never give up, never sell out for a mansion, for chump change or tribute pennies. Peltier has earned and deserves our continued support! All our political prisoners world-wide deserve to be released immediately.

We are one people---AFRICAN with one history of oppression and exploitation, domestic and international, and one future---revolutionary Pan-Africanism, which is correctly defined as the total liberation of 1.5 billion African people from Cape to Cairo and their revolutionary unification under scientific socialism, combined with the total liberation, unification, and socialist transformation of 500 million+ other African people who live, suffer, and struggle in more than 100 other countries in Asia and Oceania, Europe, and the Americas.

This Special Report will help expose and clarify capitalist and imperialist, colonialist and neo-colonialist crimes---historical and current—that have been waged and are being waged against African people and their ancestors in the 5 regions in Africa, including the Northern Region; and against the more than 500 million African people and their ancestors who live, suffer, and struggle in the 6^th region of the African Diaspora, which includes Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Bob will revisit, among other authorities, (1) the 1789, “Report of the Lords of the Committee of Council appointed for the consideration of all matters relating to trade and foreign plantations; submitting to His Majesty's [King George III] consideration the evidence and information they have collected in consequence of His Majesty's order in council dated the 11th of February 1788, concerning the present state of the trade to Africa, and particularly the trade in slaves;” (2) the 1851, “Anti-Slavery Manual, or the Wrongs of American Slavery Exposed by the Light of the Bible and of Facts, with a Remedy for the Evil,” written by Rev. John G. Fee, and published by the American Missionary Society; (3) the 1864, “Final Report of the American Freedmen’s Inquiry Commission,” by Robert Dale Owens submitted to General Edwin McMasters Stanton, U.S. Secretary of War and the U.S. Congress; (4) the 1890, “Open Letter to His Serene Majesty Leopold III, King of the Belgians, and Sovereign of the Independent State of Congo,” written by Colonel, The Honorable by Dr. George Washington Williams, in the wake of his 1889, informal interview with King Leopold III and his 1890, unsuccessful attempt to attend the Brussell’s Anti-Slavery Conference; (5) the 1891, “Enforcement of the Slave Trade Laws” paper which was delivered by W.E.B. Du Bois at the 8^th Annual Conference of the American Historical Association; and the 1896, Suppression of the American Slave Trade, 1638 to 1870 book which earned him a Ph.D. at Harvard University; and (6) the 1989-2025, Slave Voyages CD Rom and Website, which is hosted by Harvard University.

Bob will offer Pan-African Roots’ perspective and his understanding of the A-APRPP ^(GC)’s perspective on the relationship of the oppression and exploitation of African people today to the more than 100-year-old revolutionary struggle for Pan-Africanism.

We will also provide insight and clarity about today’s intoxication over reparations by the “Black, neo-colonial elite” and others in the 5 regions of Africa and the 6^th region in the African Diaspora. We refer you to a YouTube video by Kwame Ture On Pan-Africanism.

We are open to legitimate and respectful questions and concerns during the final session of the Zoom broadcast that will be moderated by the Ideological Secretariat of the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party (GC) and the Secretariat of the All-African Women’s Revolutionary Union (A-AWRU).

We do not demand reparations or compensation in any form and do not compete with any of the forces anywhere in the world that do. We are concerned with truth, integrity, and dignity.

We invite you to join the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party ^(GC), the African Awareness Association, Pan-African Roots, and our supporters, friends, and allies at the Joint African Liberation and Palestine Day 2025 activities that are scheduled for 24-25 May 2025. The theme for this year is "Honoring African Women Resisting Imperialism, Settler-Colonialism, Neo-Colonialism, Zionism, National & Women's Oppression!"

I will also make a presentation on 27 May 2025, titled “Irrefutable Proof that the Traffic In (Trading in) and Enslavement of African People Was and Is Illegal, Was and Is a Crime Against Humanity.” This special report was originally written for the 108th ASALH Conference on 23 September 2023, in Jacksonville, FL. We have spent the past two years researching and improving it. We have been invited to present it again at the 110^th Annual ASALH Conference between 24 and 27 September 2025 in Atlanta, GA. Health and finances permitting and with your support, I will be there.
