DOROTHY LEWIS DEAD
Former National Co-Chair Dorothy Lewis of N'COBRA is dead. She was the 3rd Female National Leader of The National Coalition of Blacks For Reparations in America. N'COBRA is the organization who's founding in 1987 effectively made Reparations a household word. And this was its "First Priority Mission to Educate the Black Community about its rights to Reparations."
Founded by the Legendary Black Nationalist Malcolmite, Dr. Imari A. Obadele as a strategy to get Black people to support a fundamental Black nationalist issue, N'COBRA accepted into its membership the entire range of Black political thought and practice: from members of the NAACP to the Black nationalist Freedom fighting Black Liberation Army. The Coalition accommodated us all.
Co-Chair Dorothy Lewis was elected for the first of 3 2-year terms at the National Reparations Convention in Hampton, Virginia in 1998. She succeeded Sister Johnita Scott Obadele, who'd succeeded the First Female Co-Chair, that served as the Founding Leader but for only one term: so in effect, Sister Johnita and Sister Dorothy presided over the Coalition during its most explosive period of growth, as one member said recently,...
