Celebrating Women's History Month

To commemorate women's history month and the grand opening of the
NSU's WoMen's Economic Development Center (WEDC), we have scheduled a
week of comprehensive activities that will promote learning,
inspiration and self-discovery. During each event, selected NSU
employees, will be presented with the "Emerging Woman" Award.

All workshops are Free and open to the general public.
The events will be held at 6 p.m. in NSU's
G.W.C. Brown Memorial Hall, Little Theater.

Step 1:

Monday, March 26th, 6pm "Step into Financial Freedom" Repositioning
your finances and spending featuring financial expert, Alexis Swann,
Wells Fargo Senior Vice President.

*Honorees:
Ms. Rita Bowen, Grants Contract Accountant-Grants and Contract Office
Ms. Mary Weaver, Assistant Vice President for Advancement/Fiscal
Officer-University Advancement
Ms. Audra Bunch, Payroll Accountant, Payroll Department


Step 2:

Tuesday, March 27th, 6pm "Step in the name of love" Developing healthy
relationships featuring panelist: Catherine Staton, Crystal Diggs &
Alasha Bennett, Edward Fairley.

Honorees:
Dr. Lula Sawyer, Administrator, Campus Program to Reduce Violence Against Women
Dr. Desideria Hacker, Assistant Professor, Psychology Department
Step 3:

Wednesday, March 28th, 6pm "Step into the leadership role" The
emerging contemporary woman. featuring panelist: Dr. Michelle
Woodhouse-Provost, Tidewater Community College, Tanya Weaver -
Director of Administrative Services, Urban League, Dr. Ursula Hill -
Principal, Hampton Public Schools, Valinda Gardner, Vice President
Bank of America, Dr. Khadijah Miller - Dept. Head, Interdisciplinary
Studies.

Honorees

Step 4:

Thursday, March 29th, 6pm "Step into the secret struggles of a single
mother" featuring Author Betty A. Mayfield.

Friday, March 30th, Luncheon : 12-2 p.m., Scott Dozier Ballroom,
"Sistas in Step" featuring motivational speaker.
"Jewel Diamond Taylor"


Our "Sistas in Step" luncheon will recognize outstanding community
humanitarians who have demonstrated their strength to lead and a
vision to improve the lives of the Hampton Roads community.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, University Police Building,
March 30th at 4:00 p.m.
