Ancesttral Path's "Ancestors 2nd Hell Trip!" History and Commemoration Program, Saturday, July 30, 11am, in unpaved Parking Lot G to the right of Harbor Park, at the scene of the crime, Norfolk riverfront. (Follow Park Ave to the right of Harbor Park baseball field to unpaved parking lot G, next to the river)
Learn of your courageous ancestors who revolted and overtook a so-called "slave ship" from Norfolk and forced it to a Caribbean island to liberation. Learn the little-known and even more ignored knowledge of the details of our ancestors 2nd hell trip that will make you sad, make you mad, yet will uplift your spirit and cause you to revere your courageous ancestors and thank our Creator for "how we got over; my soil looks back and wonder, how we got over!" The program covers a history that began on the Norfolk waterfront in the 18th-19th centuries, a history that literally negatively affected many hundreds of thousands of our Ancestors, but yet, hardly any of us even know of it, and none of us, to my knowledge, have ever paused to commemorate this very sobering saga of a defiled people, but a people who refused to die under the weight of their immense burdens.
Please be prompt: we start at 11 am sharp! This will be a short 90-minute program. Immediately Followed by:
Ancestral Tribute Drum Call at the waterfront and may continue in Lafayette Park, led by Sistah Kende. Bring your drums, Afrikan bells, instruments, sing, clap, make a joyful sound for your ancestors who stood up for you!
