Good Afternoon!

I am writing to inform you of a wonderful opportunity for graduating seniors. The Virginia Beach Fire Department is accepting applications for Volunteer Support Technician starting in June!

Volunteer Support Technicians, or VSTs, support firefighters with on-scene operations in the City of Virginia Beach. They man the Volunteer Support Trucks and receive training in order to provide the required air, lighting and specialized equipment that are necessary to support firefighting. Support Techs also assist in hose packing, equipment placement, scene accountability, firefighter rehabilitation and other non-hazardous duties assigned by the Incident Commander.

Volunteering is a great opportunity for students to give back to the community and gain supportive skills in firefighting! Many volunteers really enjoy the program and often apply to become a career firefighter with the City of Virginia Beach!

Please pass along the attached flyer to those students you feel may be a good fit for this excellent program. Students must be 18 years old, a high school graduate or GED and have a current U.S. driver's license.  Please feel free to contact me at 757-385-1098 with any questions or concerns.

We look forward to helping your students prepare now for their future!

Kindest Regards,

April Roberts
