Judge Ramona D. Taylor needs our help!

People,
Time to make time to and contact your state rep or all juducial state reps and ask them to meet and hear the judges side of the story.

Example to use:

"Reference: Judge Ramona D. Taylor

Senators and Delegates of
The Virginia General Assembly

As a concerned citizen of Virginia Beach, Virginia and the Kempsville District, I am asking that Judge Ramona D. Taylor be given an opportunity to address The House and Senate Courts of Justice Committees.  I feel strongly that any judge should have the right to provide information to the committees.

After listening to Judge Taylor, I believe that she should definitely be provided with that opportunity.

Thanks for your help in this matter."

Subject: FW: Judge Ramona D. Taylor needs our help!

Greetings to All,

On December 13th an article titled, "Two Judges in Region Face Bumpy Path to New Term", appeared in the Virginia Pilot.  According to the article, one judge, Virginia Beach Juvenile and Domestic Relation, Judge, Ramona D. Taylor (AKA),  was not invited for  an interview.  She is the only judge with an expiring term to be so snubbed, according to an unnamed legislator.    Judge Taylor has served on the bench since 2000.  She was censured in 2009 by the state Supreme Court after the court determined that in 2007, she violated judicial standards when she blocked an appeal of her decision to detain a 15 year-old boy.

It has been brought to my attention that the delegates and senators are meeting tomorrow to decide if Judge Taylor will be provided the opportunity to be interviewed by the Courts of Justice Committees.    We are asking you to contact your legislators today/tonight  in support of them affording  her the opportunity to mount her defense.

Sisterly,
Yvonne

  1. Sorry Ms. Lewis but I cannot support you on this cause. Judge Taylor was in the wrong in a major way in this case and her public censure was extremely well founded. It was upheld by the highest court and to my knowledge, NO judge that has been censured in the state of Virginia has been re-appointed. You should really take the time to read the 70? page report from JIRC as well as the Writ of Mandamas. Your support in this case is way off the mark. Sorry!

  2. I hope you know what you are talking about because this matter has been reviewed by several lawyers and some judges and it is not clear that she intentionally prevented this child from having an appeal. The law is unclear whether at the time she ruled if her ruling was an interlocutory ruling which can not be appealed. Before passing judgment you need to speak with a lawyer who knows the law.

  3. Dear Anonymous,
I know exactly what I am talking about and I have indeed consulted a lawyer. It was not her "misinterpretation” of this supposed unclear law that earned her the censure but what she did after words. Judges make mistakes, we all know that. Had she admitted to her mistake and allowed the appeal to go forth, all would have been fine. The child’s lawyer tried at least twice to get the judge to change her mind. She did in fact intentionally thwart this child's right to appeal and the Va. Supreme court censured her because of this. They found her explanation to be disingenuous and she basically spun a web of events that could not be supported by the records. Do you really believe that this case made it as far as it did in the courts without proper representation and evaluation? The parents were smart to pursue this and Judge Taylor’s last day is fast approaching.
