Dua (thanks) for the support. For those interested in joining the Occupy Norfolk protest, you can find them on Bank St and Commercial Plaza in downtown Norfolk.

So what's up with y'all sitting on your "you know what" while Occupy Norfolk is happening right in your front door? You staying away because you perceive it to be a "white thing"? Cultural conditioning by our oppressors sometines causes us to project our consciousness to other places where conflicts are going on and we sigh a sense of relief that we're 'safe' and not over there where the conflicts are. But truth be told, the conflicts are here as well, right in our front yards and we become oblivious to them. Let some one else do it, right?
How many of you are not impacted by what big banks are doing to the economy, raise your hands? Are you a veteran, in college, paying a mortgage, need surgery, use credit/debit cards, for instance? If so Occupy Norfolk is about you. Black people are drastically impacted by the greed of big banks to a more pernicious degree simply because we, typically, don't have the financial resources that euros, typically, have. If they are hurting, you know we are in need of CPR! So why aren't you out there marching?
My 20-year old grandaughter, who has been educated by me and her parents since before birth about her Afrikan heritage and social consciousness, recently joined the protests and sent me the note below. Read it and see if she is talking about your issues as well. If so, you know what to do.
KwasiOccupy Movement has issues, but the reason why most people don't know what they are is because of the media. The media just wants to show the violence, which is started by the police. The other reason why people don't know the issues is because they don't do the necessary research to understand. Therefore, leaving that responsibility to media outsources. Occupy is a peaceful protest that is standing for people that are the 99% that isn't rich and also standing for getting better education without going to debt, to have better jobs to be able to have better living, receiving better health care, and a all around better chance to have a good future for everyone in this country. Occupy is full of people who has grown tired of the corporate greed and the government for not putting the people first. Also the Occupy is not behind any political candidate nor party nor any social issue such as same sex marriage. It's main focus is to stay bias and the advancement of the 99%.
